Considerations:
When choosing tile the most difficult decision is often finding the
look you want. Whether you want a textured or smooth surface,
contemporary or natural stone look, larger or smaller tiles, The
Floor Store carries top name brands featuring porcelain and
ceramic tile which will meet the demands of most residential
applications (indoors and out) and many commercial applications
as well. Ceramic is softer and easier to cut, made from red or
white clay, and usually carry a PEI rating between 0-3. They are
more absorbent and more prone to chipping. Ceramic is
recommended for light to moderate traffic. Porcelain is formed at
high pressure before the firing process and is harder and denser
carrying higher PEI ratings. Porcelain is also less absorbent and
will wear better. Porcelain is recommended for light residential to
light commercial.

Care and Maintenance
Tile requires minimal maintenance and care, keeping dirt and sand off the
surface by sweeping or vacuuming with a floor attachment will increase life of
the original tile look. Wet mopping as often as needed with a mild detergent
is also recommended. Take care not to drop heavy or sharp angled objects on
the tile because it may chip. Many porcelain tiles have color through out the
body and will mask chipping.
