Laminate
With a realistic look and feel, laminate offers the same style as hardwood with a
harder and more scratch resistant wear layer offering options for pets and
children.
Considerations:

Has the look and feel of real wood with denser properties which makes
laminate more durable against scratching and denting. Laminate is a
do-it-yourself friendly floor, there is no gluing or nailing, the pieces lock
together and float over existing floor. Floor leveling is not necessary for
anything less than 1/8 inch from level. The life span of laminate is 15 to
30 years, which is good for manufactured floor covering, but
considerably less than ceramics, stone, and other natural materials, and
of course laminate can not be refinished. Laminate also produces a
hollow sound under foot due to the floating, manufacturers sell special
underlayments to minimize the acoustics.
Care & Maintenance:

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD THE FLOOR BE WET
MOPPED.
Dirt and dust are easily removed with a vacuum
featuring a hard-surface attachment or broom. For more difficult
to remove soil, use a cloth moistened very lightly with plain
water. Then wipe the surface with a clean dry cloth. Laminate
flooring needs no special treatment -never use soap solutions,
waxes, sealers, polishes, or any abrasive materials. Chemical
spills such as acids, alkalis, or petro-chemicals should be cleaned
with a laminate cleaner and dried with a soft absorbent cloth to
prevent any residue from remaining on the flooring surface.
